We specialise in manufacturing tooling, dies, cutters and auxiliary mill equipment especially for industry which uses steel bar and wire. 1. Tube Forming Rolls
Tube forming rolls are used to manipulate metal bar into metal tubing for use in the chemical industrial, either on land in processing plants or off-shore under-water marine industries such as oil & gas drilling.
2. Tube Straightening Rolls
Tube straightening rolls are mill rolls which straighten out bumps and uneven surfaces on tube bar after its been formed in a furnace. These rolls are an essential part of the roll manufacturing industry as they ensure the finished product is absolutely straight from one end to the other.
3. Stretch Reducing Rolls
Our stretch reducing rolls are have been developed using centrifugal/static casting processes and blending the various materials including chilled cast iron, nodular iron, indefinite and grey iron. Bespoke requirements such as roll hardness and its resistance to corrosion can be met by carefully monitoring and changing the chemical ingredients during manufacture.

4. Section Rolls
Our precision section rolls are used to curve flat bar, tubes, pipes and all sections and also to create circles for use in industry and other manufacturing market sectors.
5. Mill Rolls (back up, intermediate, finishing)
Mill rolls are used in all kinds of industrial processes such as paper mills and carpet manufacturing to wind up the product before it is cut and packaged for shipment. Mill rolls have to be hard wearing and carefully finished so they have smooth edges.
6. Leveller Rolls
Silverthorne Engineering manufacture a range of leveller rolls and can also produce custom specification tooling.
7. Bar Straightening Rolls
Bar straightening rolls are used to even out inaccuracies on the edges of metal bar, whether it be round, square or rectangle bar, these mill rolls are used to smooth off the surfaces to ensure precision tooling raw materials are produced.
8. Rod & Wire Tooling
Metal rod & wire tooling is required for specific industries which require steel or other metal rods and wire to be manipulated or wound, formed or to be finished with a variety of thicknesses.
9. Shafts & Cutters
Mill roll shafts are an essential part of the manufacture of rolls and they are produced separately and fitted together after the roll and shaft have cooled by heating the core of the roll at a high temperature with a furnace. Roll cutters are used in many industries to cut into mill rolls in order to form raw components for mass production of things such as drill bits.
